Affirmations And Mantras

Being Your Own Cheerleader

Another weekend is upon us.  It has been a while since I’ve given my amazing readers a weekend homework assignment.  Don’t worry, it shouldn’t take long. And, as usual, completing this assignment will only enhance your life.

We’re Not Always Happy With Ourselves

It’s not unusual for humans to feel inadequate, insecure, or that our confidence is waning.  This could happen at anytime, but most often, when a goal hasn’t been met, a relationship has failed, or when we compare ourselves to others (even former versions of ourselves).  I totally understand how depressing and disheartening it can be to feel that you have not reached the levels in life that you feel you should have, to feel that you are not “good enough” for someone who holds your interest, or to not achieve something that you have been working hard for.  Yeah, life is a bitch sometimes, but I promise you that whatever you are dealing with is not unique.  Millions of people before and after you, have and will experience whatever you are dealing with. And, they have lived and will live — so will you.

A Shoulder To Lean On

Of course, it’s great to have a person (or people), that you can vent to and/or lean on, who will recharge your confidence level.  However, not everyone is in such company.  It’s unfortunate that the very people that you have been a sounding board for, most likely will not be a sounding board for you.  As disappointing as that is, you have to remember that listening, supporting, and advising is not their role in your relationship — it’s YOUR role.  You  cannot expect them to know how to be there for you any more than you can expect a cat to bark.  They’re probably able to support and console others because in those relationships, they’re dominant.  In that role with those people, they’ve accepted the responsibility of advising.  But when it comes to you, they might feel inferior to the wisdom that you have readily given them. They think so highly of you, that they’re uncomfortable offering you advice. In an odd way, it’s complimentary. Nonetheless, when you are the shoulder to lean on for everyone, but there’s never a shoulder available when you need to lean, it can be hurtful.

Remind Yourself of How Awesome You Are!

Sometimes we have to lean on ourselves — be our own cheerleaders. How often do you remind yourself that you’re amazing? I’m sure that you do when things a re going great.  It’s very easy to do in good times.  But, how many times have you told yourself that you are awesome when times are not so great? That’s when you need that self reassurance the most.  I’d be willing to bet that this is exactly what you’d say to someone who came to you to talk about a hard time that they’re going through.

Affirmations And Mantras

Your homework for this weekend is to create at least three positive affirmations or mantras, that you can use to give yourself a kickstart when you’re feeling low and have no one to lean on.  Create a few a sentences that will remind you that you are awesome, strong, smart, beautiful, that people love and admire you, that all you ever do is win (even when you lose), and that you are in control of you.  Speak these affirmations into the Universe often.  Keep speaking them until you believe it.  Allow the Source to be your sounding board.

Be A “You” To You

Until you find your kindred planet (and even after), you have to know how to love and lean on yourself.  Yes, of  course, people need people.  However, people are not always available — and that will not stop this planet from spinning.  Life goes on, so you have to keep living.

“You will be a failure, until you impress the subconscious with the conviction you are a success. This is done by making an affirmation which ‘clicks.'”
